What Is a Psychiatric Evaluation?

A psychiatric evaluation is a structured assessment that allows Dr. Heiser to understand your or your family member’s mental history, current concerns, and overall well-being. This in-depth process may include:

  • A detailed discussion of symptoms and emotional concerns
  • Review of medical and psychiatric history
  • Family history of mental health conditions
  • Psychological assessments, if necessary
  • Meetings with other providers (e.g. therapists, family) as appropriate
  • Diagnosis and individualized treatment recommendations

Who Can Benefit from a Psychiatric Evaluation?

A psychiatric evaluation can be beneficial for individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety, depression, or mood disorders
  • Behavioral or emotional changes
  • Stress-related issues or trauma
  • Difficulty with focus, attention, or memory
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Substance use concerns
