Taylor Small is a Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in psychiatric mental health across the lifespan.
Taylor has spent the last two years working in an outpatient setting with adolescents suffering from a range of psychological conditions and substance abuse disorders. Prior to that, she spent 7 years working as a Pediatric Registered Nurse at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and The Johns Hopkins Hospital in areas such as Cardiac ICU, Burn Trauma, and Pediatric Medical/Surgical specialties.
Taylor values the holistic approach when treating her clients. She uses a combination of diagnostic assessment, client history, and the most up to date evidence based practice to create personalized treatment plans. She has a warm and welcoming personality which allows clients to feel safe and comfortable expressing their concerns. Previous clients have described Taylor as nurturing, thoughtful and kind. She employs empathetic listening and flexibility to adapt to each client's personal wants and needs.
Taylor received a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University in Child Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University. She completed her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner education at Azusa Pacific University. Throughout graduate school, Taylor conducted research and administered training at various outpatient treatment centers on Dual Diagnosis treatment and education in the adolescent population.
This training and education provided the outpatient centers with the most up to date research on how to treat and monitor symptomatic progress in a vulnerable population.While in graduate school, Taylor also spent a year working with patients with treatment resistant schizophrenia and conducted research in developing the most beneficial treatment modalities for this patient population.
Taylor provides psychiatry services for patients with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and emotion dysregulation. She has experience as a psychiatric provider in multiple outpatient settings (RTC, PHP, and IOP) with children, adolescents and young adults.
In her free time, Taylor enjoys doing puzzles, going on hikes with her three dogs and spending time with her family.
