Depression is a serious mental health condition that affects how you think, feel, and manage daily activities. It is more than just feeling sad or experiencing a rough patch—depression can lead to persistent feelings of hopelessness, loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities, and physical symptoms like fatigue or changes in sleep patterns. Without proper treatment, depression can significantly impact relationships, work, and overall quality of life.

Symptoms of Depression

Depression can present with a range of symptoms, including:

  • Persistent sadness or emptiness
  • Loss of interest in hobbies or activities
  • Fatigue or low energy
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Changes in appetite (overeating or loss of appetite)
  • Sleep disturbances (insomnia or excessive sleeping)
  • Feelings of guilt or worthlessness
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide

If you experience several of these symptoms for more than two weeks, it may indicate a depressive disorder that requires professional care.
