Meet Dr. Heiser

Marc Heiser, M.D., Ph.D. is an ABPN-certified child & adolescent and adult psychiatrist who is committed to providing the highest quality care to his patients.

Story

Dr. Heiser is a psychiatrist double boarded in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry

Dr Heiser is a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist who is committed to providing the highest quality care to individuals and families.
Dr. Heiser has always been of two minds – deeply interested in art, literature, music, spirituality, and creative expression, while at the same time a rigorously trained neuroscientist who is aware of the complexities of the brain and advanced mental health treatments.

He believes that comprehensive care can only be provided by understanding an individual’s internal experiences (their drives, emotions, sensitivities), social environment, and biology (genes, behaviors that impact the brain such as sleep, physical activity and diet).

Dr. Heiser has extensive experience treating a wide range of psychiatric issues including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, PTSD, substance use disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and autism spectrum disorder.  He has been trained in mindfulness based stress reduction, cognitive behavioral therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation, and in the care of individuals exploring their gender identity.

He is an expert in the use of ketamine and is certified in ketamine assisted psychotherapy (KAP).  In addition his private practice, Dr. Heiser is an Associate Medical Director for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health where he has pioneered the use of transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment (TMS) and Ketamine.
